Know Your USGA/WHS Handicap Index
You ever wonder how many strokes you will receive the next time you tee it up against your buddies? To determine this, you need to start with your USGA/WHS Handicap Index. A Handicap Index is the number issued by your golf club and is expressed as a number taken to one decimal place. This number represents your potential scoring ability. It does not matter where you play or which set of tees you use, your USGA/WHS Handicap Index travels well and makes handicaps fair. Your Handicap Index is not your handicap; it simply leads you to your Course Handicap, which is the specific number of strokes you need to play on a specific set of tees to adjust your score back to the level of scratch (i.e., Course Par Rating).
